Policy Statement : Individuals convicted of involvement in cargo theft, trailer theft, or auto theft shall receive a minimum mandatory sentence of two years imprisonment.

Individuals convicted of robbery involving firearms shall receive a minimum mandatory sentence of two years imprisonment. This policy is intended to deter criminal activities and reduce insurance costs for vehicles and fleets.

  1. PurposeTo reduce auto theft, cargo theft, and armed robbery incidents, thereby lowering car insurance and trucking fleet insurance rates.
  2. ScopeIndividuals involved in cargo theft, trailer theft, and auto theft (including trucks and cars). Individuals involved in robberies that include the use of firearms.

      Cargo Theft: The unlawful taking of goods or merchandise from trailers, trucks, or other shipping vehicles.
    1. Auto Theft: The unlawful taking of cars, trucks, or other motor vehicles without the owner’s consent.
    2. Armed Robbery: The act of stealing property through the use or threat of firearms.
