One Trip, Several Governments

A Brampton trip may use a City road, a Peel road and provincially controlled Highway 410. Peel controls many major roads, including parts of Bovaird, Queen, Airport, Dixie and Steeles.

One mobility plan will show what each government must fix and what Brampton has requested.

Fix the Intersections That Waste the Most Time

I will publish a ward-by-ward list of the worst-performing intersections and corridors using travel time, collision records, pedestrian safety, transit delay and resident reports.

The City will prioritize signal coordination, turn-lane changes, road markings, lighting, bus-stop design, construction coordination and enforcement of dangerous parking and blocked lanes.

Residents should see the before-and-after result.

A Road Repair Standard

The City will publish response standards for potholes, signs, markings and urgent hazards. Residents will receive a case number, expected response and explanation of delays. Road-condition data will guide maintenance.

A 410 Relief Table

The Mayor cannot widen or operate Highway 410.

I will convene the Province, Peel Region, neighbouring municipalities, emergency services, transit agencies, employers and freight representatives around a 410 Relief Table.

Its work will cover:

Transit That Follows Demand

Brampton Transit carried more than 43 million passengers in 2024. Some routes are crowded while other trips have lower use and some neighbourhoods remain underserved. The answer is better planning.

Service decisions should use ridership, crowding, missed-passenger data, shift patterns, housing growth and access to hospitals, schools and community facilities.

Busy routes should receive capacity. Lower-demand areas should test smaller vehicles, timed connections or demand-responsive service where they improve access and value.

Bus-Only Lanes and Rapid Transit

I support measures that move more people and fit the corridor. Before approving dedicated lanes or major projects, residents should see expected ridership, time savings, traffic impact, cost, access and alternatives.

Transit for Shift Workers

I will work with major employers to identify industrial areas where shift workers lack reliable transit. Employers may coordinate shifts, first-and-last-mile connections or shared shuttles.

Walking and Cycling With Balance

People should be able to walk or cycle safely between homes, schools, parks, trails, facilities and transit. Connected infrastructure should include safe crossings, sidewalks, trails, school links, snow-clearing standards and year-round reviews while preserving access for cars, emergency vehicles, deliveries and winter operations.

The goal is choice and safety—not conflict between drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Future Mobility Pilots

I will explore accessible electric or autonomous shuttles on controlled routes such as campuses, business districts and first-and-last-mile connections. Pilots require a safety case, regulatory approval, human oversight, insurance, accessibility and a realistic budget.

Fair Auto Insurance

Ontario’s regulator confirms that location can affect auto-insurance prices. Responsible Brampton drivers should not be punished mainly because of a postal code.

The Mayor does not set insurance premiums. I will not promise something City Hall cannot order.

I will bring together the Province, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, insurers, Peel Regional Police, road-safety experts and consumer representatives.

We will demand clear answers on:

  •     The role of territory and postal code in pricing
  •     How theft and collision data are used
  •     Whether anti-theft investments produce savings for drivers
  •     How Brampton rates compare for drivers with similar records
  •     What reforms require provincial legislation or regulatory change

City Hall will also publish collision reductions, theft-prevention results, vehicle recoveries, dangerous-driving enforcement and road-design improvements.

Safer roads cannot guarantee lower premiums, but they strengthen the case for assessment based on current risk and individual behaviour.
